Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

This role is permanent. The ideal applicant will be based in the North Island. Reporting to the Aho Tāngaengae/ Manager of Te Uepū ā Motu, your focus is to evaluate the quality of education provided by kura (Kura Kaupapa Māori, Ngā Kura ā Iwi, Kura Motuhake) and kōhungahunga (Kōhanga Reo, Puna Reo) and from these evaluations, prepare reports that are made available to the public. You will be working in kaupapa Māori learning environments and need a high level of fluency in te reo and tikanga knowledge.

Are you a successful senior education leader looking for your next challenge? Do you have the skills, experience, and ambition to work with a wide range of kura and communities to improve the quality of education? Do you have the skills and experience to evaluate the quality of teaching and learning in Māori medium settings. Do you have effective communication skills in te reo Māori and English – both written and oral?

We want to hear about any of the following in your cover letter and CV:

Your extensive knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Āotearoa, and Te Whāriki.
Your understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for the education sector and ERO
Your knowledge of effective pedagogical practices, including in Māori medium settings
Your experience working in Māori medium education settings
Examples of key relationships you've built and how and why relationships are important.
Where you've demonstrated leadership, e.g., led by example, demonstrated problem solving, owned a project or piece of work, spoken up for yourself or others.
Where you've shown curiosity and tried new things, taken on other perspectives, challenged the norm, learned, and applied or shared your learnings.
Where you've collaborated with others and invited feedback
Experience in an education leadership role that included using evaluation to guide improvement.
