About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We have a Permanent, Full-time position for the role of Lead Advisor Network, at our Maungawhau | Mt Eden Office.
The Lead Adviser Network leads advice on the long-term and medium-term structure and design of the schooling network. This supports regional office operational planning for education provision.
This requires working with Territorial Local Authorities (TLAs), schools and kura, ECE, boards of trustees, and other groups including government agencies, and regional and national Ministry of Education staff, in order to identify changing needs within the schooling network so that the Ministry is able to respond effectively.
Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and capabilities:
- Experience working in a complex organisation.
- Experience in building relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
- A tertiary qualification with a significant component in education, law, public policy, social sciences, geography, or other relevant disciplines is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of the operation of the school sector and an understanding of factors impacting on student achievement.
- Project management/planning skills and an understanding of project management methodology.
- Ability to build a good understanding of the wider regional environment and trends, and identify potential opportunities risks and issues before they arise.
- Understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and their implications on network provision within the education sector.
- Working knowledge of tikanga Māori and self-starting confidence to build relationships with iwi, whānau and hapū.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
Our team provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
As a frontline group we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapū. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kōhanga, school and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.
We also collectively strengthen relationships with our diverse communities who support Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled ākonga and/or ākonga with learning support needs, and ākonga from disadvantaged backgrounds.
