About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The Ministry of Education is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior System Administrator to support the management and maintenance of our People Systems, ensuring their security, integrity, and optimal functionality. This role is critical in supporting HR and payroll-related technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support all the people systems including HRIS, Contractor Central (Fieldglass) and Payroll systems.
- Ensure compliance with IT system audit requirements to maintain system security and integrity.
- Oversee the development, updating, and testing of the Payroll Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
- Lead the planning and implementation of system upgrades, software releases, and procedural enhancements.
- Manage system availability in line with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Diagnose, document, and resolve system faults within designated priority timeframes, liaising with software providers where necessary.
- Ensure that all fault resolutions are thoroughly tested and that stakeholders are kept informed throughout the process.
- Provide expert advice and support to optimize the functionality and security of People Capability (PC) systems.
- Develop and implement risk management and audit controls to enhance system performance and compliance.
Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
Experience & Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in systems administration, particularly in HR-specific systems, HRIS, and Payroll environments.
- Proficiency in CRM or JIRA is advantageous.
- Advanced skills in HR data analysis and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across diverse cultural and professional contexts.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications & Technical Expertise:
- Extensive experience in the design and maintenance of SAP HCM.
- Proficiency in SAP Cloud Platform Technology.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, Microsoft Certification, or equivalent experience in on-premise/public cloud platforms and applications.
- Understanding of ITIL frameworks and their application to system administration.
- Experience with HRIS SuccessFactors and Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate group is responsible for delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions. We enable the organisation to operate effectively and help fulfil the statutory and reporting obligations of Te Tāhuhu.
The Integration Services division is responsible for the Ministry’s corporate service operations, service management, business continuity, corporate applications, portfolio delivery and Māori Crown Relations functions that enable our business groups to run effectively.
