Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Library Assistant to join the Resource and Acquisitions team. Our team is fast-paced, likes sharing ideas and working collaboratively. We offer you professional development opportunities, including Te reo Māori and other university-run workshops and programmes. This is a permanent, part-time position. The role will be responsible for purchasing and processing of the Library’s collections in all formats and undertaking a range of operational activities which support the access and discoverability of the library’s electronic and physical resources.
Key responsibilities:
- Place orders for the Library’s collection, including processing of payments via Pcard or other methods as directed.
- Process acquired resources for the Library’s collection, including receiving, call-marking, and copy-cataloguing.
- Make electronic resources available using the library management system and discovery services.
- Provide user support for accessing the Library’s resources. This includes identifying problems with newly acquired physical items, access to electronic resources, updating metadata records, and referring issues to technical specialists as appropriate.

- Demonstrated experience of working effectively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience of providing high quality customer service.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and demonstrated ability to develop proficiency in new software applications.
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, such as the lifting and movement of books and other material around the Library.
