Massey University invites applications for the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori, a critical position within the Senior Leadership Team responsible for advancing the University's strategic commitment to being a Tiriti o Waitangi-led institution.
This role provides executive-level leadership to enhance Māori student achievement, embed te ao Māori across the institution, and strengthen partnerships with iwi, hapū, and whānau. The appointee will also guide cultural capability development and champion kaupapa Māori research and scholarship.
Based at one of Massey's campuses - Palmerston North, Auckland (Albany), or Wellington - and reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Māori will influence university-wide strategy, institutional culture, and relationships across the sector and Māori communities.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- proven senior leadership experience in tertiary education, iwi development, or a relevant sector
- fluency in te reo Māori and deep knowledge of tikanga Māori
- a record of delivering complex strategic initiatives across institutional boundaries
- the capacity to influence and lead with cultural integrity, academic credibility, and relational excellence
- a PhD or equivalent standing in a relevant field (strongly preferred).
