About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We are offering a Permanent, Full-time role in our New Plymouth Office.
Are you passionate about fostering positive behaviour and creating a thriving learning environment for students? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Positive Behaviour for Learning School Wide (PB4L-SW) Practitioner.
As a School Wide Practitioner, you'll play a crucial role in helping schools develop nurturing environments that promote meaningful relationships and high-quality teaching and learning experiences. You'll work collaboratively with schools to establish systems and practices that foster safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive spaces for students to thrive.
It is a Universal (whole school) approach to improving learner wellbeing and achievement. “Positive Behaviour 4 Learning School-wide” (PB4L) enables schools to create positive environments that promote caring relationships and quality teaching and learning. School Wide Practitioners work alongside schools supporting them to develop systems and practices that foster safe and inclusive environments in a culturally responsive way.
Salary range: $69,966 - $118,450 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge and experience of developing systems to support positive behaviour; adult learning; and working with staff and school communities to understand what is required to meet student needs. We are seeking a confident presenter who is comfortable facilitating change through building and maintaining relationships. It would be an advantage if you are confident in Te reo me tikanga Māori.
You will also offer:
- A tertiary qualification in education, psychology, or other appropriate discipline relevant to the focus of the position (e.g., Learning support)
- Knowledge of a range of assessment and intervention frameworks with knowledge of inclusive and ecological approaches
- Knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour
- Demonstrated successful experience in the classroom or other relevant settings and/or including students with additional needs in classroom or other relevant settings.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whanau.
Te Mahau takiwā collectively provide leadership and integrated services to the education sector. Te Mahau | Te Tai Whenua is a takiwā group consisting of four regions:
- Waikato
- Bay of Plenty, Waiariki
- Hawke's Bay, Tairāwhiti
- Taranaki, Whanganui, Manawatū
Across our takiwā, we provide leadership and guidance to deliver education service for school/kura, early learning services, whānau and ākonga, and our local communities.
