Te Kahu Tōī Intensive Wraparound Psychologist
- Permanent full-time position based in Dunedin office.
As Te Kahu Tōī IWS Psychologist you will work as part of a team to understand the underlying needs of the young person and family and implement evidence-based interventions in your areas of expertise. More specifically, you will:
- Identify patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing and behaviour.
- Contribute to strength based collaborative team processes to meet the young person's underlying needs.
- Provide ongoing, individualized, and dynamic psychological assessment and intervention.
- Support all those around the child to use evidence informed practice.
- Monitor implementation effectiveness by supporting data collection and informed decision making.
Salary range: $85,416 - $105,708 per annum + KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake
As a Psychologist within Te Kahu Tōī, you will play a critical role in understanding, assessing, and supporting tamariki and their whānau. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you will contribute to comprehensive ecological assessments, develop tailored intervention plans, and work collaboratively with whānau, educators, and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
This is more than a clinical role – it is an opportunity to make a profound and lasting difference. You will support tamariki who are at risk of being left behind, while empowering whānau with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to create positive change. Your ability to build strong, respectful relationships and provide culturally responsive, strengths-based practice will be central to this work.

To be successful you will need:
- To be a New Zealand Registered Psychologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act and hold a current practicing certificate.
- Ability to contribute your specialist skills within multi-agency, trans-disciplinary settings where the child/youth are at the centre of everything you do.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families, teachers and other professionals across a diverse range of settings
- The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Kahu Tōī – Intensive Wraparound Service is a national specialist service delivering highly intensive, evidence-informed support for ākonga aged 5–14 with the highest and most complex needs. The tamariki we work alongside often experience significant and co-existing challenges – emotional, behavioural, and developmental – requiring thoughtful, individualised, and holistic interventions beyond traditional approaches.
