About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
The Practice and Delivery Centre has a complex and crucial work programme which directly guides frontline staff to deliver curriculum and assessment changes through our operating and delivery models.
As a Senior Advisor you will play an instrumental role in providing advice and guidance and supporting the development, delivery and continuous improvement of how curriculum and assessment changes are delivered by our frontline staff to schools, kura and early learning services.
You will act as a trusted adviser collaborating closely with team members and stakeholders to guide and support the practice and delivery of curriculum and assessment changes. You will identify risks and issues, address complex problems and provide analysis and guidance to help frontline staff deliver changes to the sector. You will be able to apply research to supports decision making and to contribute quality outputs into our programmes of work.
Key requirements of this role include:
- A strong understanding of national curriculum and Aotearoa, New Zealand’s education sector.
- A level of capability to confidently work in all aspects of a practice and delivery framework including providing guidance, training and on the ground support for frontline Ministry staff.
- A level of capability to support the delivery curriculum and assessment changes identifying practices that are impactful within schools, kura and early learning services.
- Ability to support the monitoring and reporting processes for curriculum services.
- Be able to engage and build credible relationships quickly, and positively.
- Have highly developed verbal and written communication.
- Ability to contribute to design and development of projects and initiatives while being aware of resulting impacts for our frontline staff and ākonga.
Salary range: $84,425 - $102,271 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake
The purpose of Te Poutāhū is to lead the national curricula for Aotearoa New Zealand and associated systems and processes of assessment and aromatawai.
We design, develop and provide curriculum services for teachers, kaiako, leaders, ākonga, their whānau and communities that reflect their identities, languages and cultures. We bring together curriculum, teaching expertise and evidence for the development, support and review of inclusive curricula, assessment and NCEA. Our strengths are across te reo Māori, mātauranga Māori, disability, inclusive learning support and culturally relevant content so that Te Mahau supports learning that is inclusive for all ākonga.
We support the people who are closest to, and directly serve, ākonga and whānau. We do this through Te Mahau where we connect with the sector, working collaboratively to identify priorities and design local solution.
