About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity with the Ministry’s Financial Accounting team.
The Senior Financial Accountant reports to the Manager Financial Accounting and contributes to the delivery of the Finance function with Te Pou Rangatōpū and in conjunction with Corporate Finance. The Senior Financial Accountant role is a key role, responsible for financial reporting and compliance to ensure school property financial transaction and obligations are correctly reported. This role requires interactions with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
The purpose of this role is to provide technical accounting for the school property assets, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and preparation of capital financial reports.

About you | Mōhou ake
You will need to be a Chartered Accountant with a minimum of three years post qualification experience, have a working knowledge of fixed assets and capital expenditure accounting within a large capital-intensive organisation and experience in systems management and implementation to support capital programmes and Fixed Assets information.
You will also offer experience:
- analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impact;
- demonstrating a high level of Excel skill in the management/ analysis of very large spreadsheets with complex detail. Power BI experience helpful; and
- managing relationships and consultation with an assortment of internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Te Pou Rangatōpū | Corporate is responsible for delivering essential Ministry-wide statutory and corporate functions. We enable the organisation to operate effectively and help fulfil the statutory and reporting obligations of Te Tāhuhu.
We deliver consistent, efficient, integrated services and good business practices to keep the organisation running and safe. We also provide essential services such as governance, organisational strategy, communications, facilities, legal, finance, procurement, ministerial reporting and people capability to the organisation. This includes working closely with our staff unions.
Our group is focused on role-modelling cultural responsiveness through the design and implementation of our corporate policy, processes and practices.
