About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga
We’re looking for a Project Coordinator to support the delivery of the Ministry’s digital and data products and services, including online services and applications. In this role, you’ll help coordinate and manage the planning, tracking, and delivery of work across medium-to-large initiatives, while supporting the Project Manager to strengthen delivery practices across the Ministry.
You’ll take a collaborative, people-focused approach—connecting teams, stakeholders, and activities—to help keep work organised, on track, and aligned. Working closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and business teams, you’ll support the smooth flow of information, proactively identify and remove blockers, and ensure delivery milestones and timelines remain on track .
- You’ll also support project governance, reporting, financial coordination, and delivery administration to help ensure initiatives are well managed and effectively delivered.
Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

- Comfortable working in complex environments, with an understanding of government processes and operating contexts
- Experienced in supporting delivery across project, programme, or product environments, with a solid understanding of delivery lifecycles, documentation, governance, and methodologies (PRINCE2 desirable).
- Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
- A strong relationship builder who works collaboratively across teams, stakeholders, and business groups
- A clear and confident communicator who can work both autonomously and as part of a team
- Calm and adaptable under pressure, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and keep work on track
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development
You will also offer:
- A track record of bringing people together to achieve outcomes, including the ability to support, coach, and guide others
- Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities
- The ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative information to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and support informed decision-making
- Experience proactively identifying and removing blockers to maintain delivery momentum
- The ability to improve inefficient processes and contribute to more effective ways of working
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring communication is clear, proactive, and aligned to real needs and priorities
- Experience supporting project financial management, including invoice tracking, forecasting, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting, ideally using systems such as Oracle.
- A working knowledge of collaboration and design tools (e.g., Figma) to support engagement with delivery teams
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality delivery
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
We work in a hybrid work environment, with modern office space provided in central Wellington and the option for flexible hybrid working. We offer access to Microsoft 365, Jira/Atlassian tools and have implemented Microsoft co-pilot. You’ll be joining a supportive Project and Product Management Practice team that provides coaching, mentoring and professional development.

Te Pou Kōrero | Digital and Data sets the digital and data direction that enables a modern, efficient and seamless experience for those interacting with education services. The Group is accountable for the digital and data strategies and enabling capability plans, as well as maintaining the products and services. The Group provides overall leadership for development and implementation of integrated education and digital and data solutions working closely with other parts of the education sector and Ministry, enabled by a strong evaluation and evidence base.
